The America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship program is for college students in the U.S.A. who are children of Active First Responders. It aims to support those who answer the 911 call every day by providing financial benefits to their children. 

America’s 911 Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Founded in October 2001, the Foundation received I.R.S. recognition as a Non Profit organization in February 2003. 501-(c)3 Number 42-1573312.

The Foundation’s mission is to NEVER FORGET September 11, 2001. To remember all emergency personnel who have given their life and also remember their families. Each year, 15 students receive America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship worth $2,000.

In order to receive the award, you must be enrolled continuously, full-time, in a program that falls within the eligibility requirements described in the next section.

Are You Eligible for the America’s Foundation 911 Scholarship?

To be eligible for America’s Foundation 911 Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of the U.S.A.
  • If you or your parent, one or both, is an active duty First Responder you are eligible.

What is a First Responder:

Someone with arrest authority, someone who works in an ambulance or rescue vehicle, E.M.T.s, Paramedics, Firefighters, Police, Sheriff’s Office, Game Warden, Border Patrol, Park Rangers, Marshals, Correctional Officers, or a dispatcher who works for any of the foregoing. These positions can be Paid or Volunteer.

What Do You Need to Apply for America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship?

Among the factors determining who receives a scholarship are an academic achievement, diversity and inclusion, athletic ability, and financial need.

Here is the breakdown of what you need in other to apply for the America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship Program:

  • Any student whose parent is an Active Duty First Responder, either Paid or Volunteer,
  • List the parent’s name, department, job title, and their supervisor’s name
  • Admissions to an accredited College or University;
  • Two letters of reference from current school faculty and/or community leader.
  • Scholars can be selected based on their financial needs.
  • Write an essay (250-500 words).

What Is the Timeline for the America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship Program?

The 2023 America’s 911 Foundation Scholarship application will open in late November 2022. The deadline for applications is March 9, 2023.

Notifications will most likely be sent to award recipients by mid-June.
